Our Team

We have a gòod team of 40 people on this trip
consisting of about half Vietnamese and half American.

Arrived in Viet Tri and began setting up for our first clinic.  First photo below shows courtyard of an orphanage supported since 1998 by COPI.  This facility houses about 70 kids who are orphaned and suffer some form of physical or mental disability.  Interesting coincidence is the young woman with the orange top in the photo.  She was born in the Saigon area and left as a newborn on the steps of a hospital.  Through another orphanage she was adopted by an American family and grew up in the US.  She is now an RN working in the emergency department of a hspital in Seattle and is serving on this team with us.

Second photo shows some our team waiting for luggage at the Ha Noi airport.  We have 40 people about evenly distributed between Vietnamese and American.  Left to right in photo shows pediatrician, OB/GYN, PA, Vietnamese translator, and RN.  Bill, Joe, and McKendree crowd -- pediatrician graduated from SLU medical school and completed pediatric residency at Cardinal Glennon Hospital.  She is about to begin a pediatric trauma fellowship.  I think she's very good but she looks to be about 15.

Last photo is of two of my bosses for this trip.  They are two of our Vietnamese dentists from Saigon.  I am handling autoclave, dental instruments, and portable dental equipment compressors for them.

More later.
