A day in Hue

Well we almost made our 7:30 AM start time and would have if key had worked to get us back in room to get camera 😆
Oh well, we got it sorted and not much of a delay.
Great breakfast buffet in beautiful garden setting

Off to The Citadel for a great full morning of touring. Such a beautiful place, so much history and slowly being restored to former times.
There are 3 Gates as main entrance to the Citadel . . Center gate for King and side ones for everyone else.  Well kinda sorta, seems Candy our Vietnamese guide could not use same gate as us Foreigners!  So she had to go back around and use gate for Vietnamese ☺

So many beautiful roofs and gates

We had hoped to see performance in Royal Theater but unfortunately they did not get enough takers so no performance.  Seems Candy was chosen my US Embassy to be translator when an American modern ballet company came and ran week long class at theatre. She said did get to be part of one small number so has performed on Royal stage!

Then onto lunch and we ate International.  I had Banh my (sandwich), Bob had beef sandwich and Candy had burger!  Plus lots of cold drinks, did I mention warm at 94 and no a/c.

Then picked up laundry, when hot go through cloths quickly,
 and onto museums.
Visited Antiquities and War Museums

Then onto the market to buy few items had not wanted to lug around VN so waited to Hue to shop for.  Candy was great at helping us bargain! Got good deal without a Kohl's coupon 😆

Candy has been really great at helping us read Vietnamese signs in museums, teaching us about Vietnamese culture, recommending places to eat and getting us across the street.  Crossing a street with cars scooters flying around no easy task.  .

We had a traditional dinner of Hue dishes that were delicious.  We started with rice cakes with shrimp and onion topping

What you don't cook with  banana leaves in US ? Anyone know where to find banana leaves in Atlanta? !?

Tomorrow is Royal Pagoda Day and will travel by boat. . .
